Rib Roast

This is how Dean fixes a rib roast.  I made this today since we had one in the freezer (the one we had for Christmas dinner was too big for just the two of us so we cut it in half and froze half.) I figured after clearing 24 inches of snow today he would be pretty hungry so I made this for dinner today. Amounts, and cooking times may vary according to your oven and cookware, as well as the size of the roast you are making.

1 Rib Roast (today we had a 2 bone roast)

4 tsp Kosher Salt

2 tsp Pepper

4 tsp Garlic Powder

2 tsp Onion Powder

Combine spices.  Pat spices onto all sides of the roast to form a crust, it will be pretty thick.  Bake on 325 until a meat thermometer shows medium or the degree of doneness that you like. Our roast today was still slightly frozen in the center when we put it in the oven, so it went for 3 hours and then rested for about 15 minutes before we cut it.

  1. Oh, my–that looks so good! It’s been years since I’ve made a rib roast. Now all I have to do is wait for a good sale!

    • We bought ours at BJ’s wholesale club…came in a big slab and we cut it into roasts ourselves then vacuum sealed each one. I think we got 3 roasts and one good sized steak for the same price we would pay for one roast at the grocery store.
